Role Overview
The Data/Assessment Officer at Broadoaks British School in Abuja is charged with managing and analyzing student assessment data to inform evidence-based decisions, enhancing academic performance. This position entails coordinating assessment data collection, processing, and reporting, ensuring accuracy and data integrity to support teaching strategies and school initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Accumulate, organize, and secure student assessment data from multiple sources ensuring confidentiality and data accuracy.
- Create and maintain databases to monitor academic progress and detect performance trends among students.
- Analyze results to highlight strengths and improvement areas across different subjects and classes.
- Prepare comprehensive reports and visual data presentations to guide academic leadership and stakeholders.
- Schedule and coordinate formative and summative assessments according to the academic calendar, collaborating with teaching staff to ensure timely administration and policy compliance.
- Assist in developing standardized assessment methods and monitor adherence to testing protocols for fairness and consistency.
- Draft detailed assessment reports for internal personnel, parents, and regulatory bodies, and present actionable insights during academic meetings.
- Communicate effectively with educators to promote data-driven instructional approaches and create accurate student transcripts for university or school transfers.
- Ensure all data handling complies with data protection and safeguarding regulations and support internal audits and external inspections concerning academic assessments.
- Engage with academic leadership to continuously refine assessment procedures and participate in professional development activities related to educational analytics and data usage.
- Apply uniform mark scale grading and assist staff in reporting grades for IGCSE and IAL examinations.
Performance Indicators
- Assessments conducted punctually in line with the academic timetable.
- Maintaining assessment data accuracy of at least 98% with zero critical errors.
- Generating 90% of reports within preset deadlines after assessments.
- Achieving 85% or higher positive feedback from academic staff and leadership on report quality and usefulness.
- 100% compliance with data protection and safeguarding policies.
- Providing each department at least one data-driven performance insight per term to aid teaching improvements.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Statistics, Data Management, Psychology, or related fields.
- Experience in data analysis, assessment coordination, or educational research preferred.
- Knowledge of British or international school curricula and assessment standards is advantageous.
- Expertise in data protection and safeguarding practices.
- Strong analytical thinking with the ability to interpret complex data.
- Proficiency with data tools such as Excel, Google Sheets, and visualization software.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.
- Attention to detail and an ethical approach to confidentiality.
- Collaborative mindset focused on problem-solving and innovation.
