Role Overview
Seneca Resources is hiring a Data Analyst to support HR and broader business operations work. This contract role is well suited to someone who enjoys turning complex information into practical insights that guide decisions. You will work with business users, analysts, and technical partners to collect, verify, analyze, and report enterprise data.
The role calls for strong analytical thinking, hands-on SQL experience, and familiarity with data visualization tools. A solid interest in data quality, governance, and business intelligence is important. The assignment is hybrid, with three days per week onsite, and can be based in Vienna, VA, Pensacola, FL, or Winchester, VA.
Work Location and Status
This is a contract position with a hybrid schedule. Onsite presence is required three days each week. Available locations are Vienna, VA; Pensacola, FL; or Winchester, VA. No clearance is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with business stakeholders to capture, analyze, and record business and data needs.
- Carry out data extraction, transformation, cleansing, verification, and quality control tasks.
- Create technical materials such as data definitions, business rules, metadata, and governance documentation.
- Plan and execute user acceptance testing, then confirm data accuracy, consistency, and integrity.
- Review data quality to support reporting standards and governance expectations.
- Study large datasets to spot trends, patterns, and opportunities tied to business goals.
- Build SQL queries and conduct data research for reporting, analytics, and business intelligence work.
- Prepare summary statistics and analytical reports for stakeholders and leadership teams.
- Support business intelligence and data science efforts through data preparation and analysis.
- Partner with cross-functional teams on enterprise reporting initiatives and process improvements.
- Present findings and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Required Background
- A bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or another quantitative field.
- Between 2 and 5 years of professional experience in data analysis, business intelligence, reporting, or analytics.
- Hands-on experience writing and improving SQL queries.
- Working knowledge of Python or R for analysis and automation.
- Experience using Power BI, Microsoft Excel, or similar visualization tools.
- Strong understanding of cleansing, preprocessing, validation, and quality assurance methods.
- Knowledge of data governance, metadata management, and data integrity best practices.
- Ability to interpret statistical information and perform analytical research.
- Comfort working with both structured and unstructured data to produce business insights.
- Strong documentation, organization, and communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with business and technical teams.

- Background supporting HR, business operations, or enterprise reporting work.
- Exposure to business intelligence, reporting, or data science methods.
- Experience in Agile or broader enterprise project settings.

Compensation and Benefits
