About the Role
Thames-Coromandel District Council is looking for a confident and motivated customer service professional to join its Coromandel office. This position is part of the wider district customer services function and handles face-to-face, digital, and phone-based interactions.
What You’ll Do
You will act as the key connection between the Council, the community, customers, contractors, and their customers. The role covers a wide range of front-line support and administrative work.
- Handle cash and cashiering duties
- Carry out day-to-day administrative tasks
- Support cemetery administration
- Process service requests
- Provide regulatory and consent-related information
- Respond to general customer enquiries
- Assist with rates enquiries
- Manage bookings
- Answer calls on the call centre phone line
- Support elections and governance matters, including Mayor, Chief Executive, and Community Boards
- Work with IM / IT / LIMS-related tasks
- Assist with infrastructure queries, including rubbish and recycling, water, wastewater, and stormwater
About You
This is a busy and varied position, so you should be able to stay calm under pressure, communicate clearly, and deliver excellent service with a positive attitude. You’ll need to prioritise effectively, build strong working relationships, and bring a friendly, good-humoured approach to the team.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a customer service environment
- Strong interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills
- Good working knowledge of MS Office and the ability to learn new systems quickly
- Full driver’s licence
Additional Information
The role is based in the Coromandel office. Initial training will take place in Thames. The organisation values accountability and teamwork, and its culture is focused on helping staff achieve strong outcomes.
