About the Role
We are seeking confident customer service professionals to join a busy government agency's high-volume inbound contact centre located in Palmerston North, New Zealand. This contract position is office-based and does not support remote or work-from-home arrangements. The role is suited for individuals who thrive in fast-paced environments, enjoy assisting others, and maintain composure under pressure. It offers long-term contract stability with the possibility of extension or transition to a permanent role.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to inbound calls from the public promptly and professionally.
- Provide accurate information and resolve customer inquiries effectively.
- Record details accurately into internal systems.
- Handle customer interactions with empathy and professionalism.
- Efficiently navigate multiple systems in a fast-moving workplace.
- Escalate complex cases to the appropriate departments as needed.
Candidate Profile
- Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
- Previous experience in customer service roles such as call centre, hospitality, retail, or reception.
- A calm, empathetic, and solution-oriented mindset.
- Technologically adept with the ability to quickly learn new systems.
- Strong attention to detail and capability to multitask.
- Willingness to work on a 7-day rotating roster.
- Dependable, positive attitude with a team-focused approach.
Position Details
- Start date: 8th September 2026 through June 2027, with potential for extension or permanent placement.
- Guaranteed minimum 25 hours of work per week.
- Roster includes shifts Monday to Sunday between 6am and midnight, predominantly during afternoons, evenings, and weekends.
- Approximately 4 weeks of full-time paid training (mandatory attendance).
- Availability required for a minimum of 5 days within the 7-day roster cycle, including weekends.
- Compensation: $28.95 per hour.
- Work location: Onsite only, no remote working options.
