About the Role
Hindmarsh is seeking a seasoned Contract Manager to spearhead the commercial aspects of a major $100M+ high-rise residential development in Canberra, enhancing local access to affordable housing. Hindmarsh, a longstanding builder rooted in Canberra for over forty years, is dedicated to quality construction and fostering community relationships. This project offers the chance to contribute meaningfully to the city's growth by delivering essential housing solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee management and administration of head contracts and subcontract agreements throughout all project stages
- Formulate and execute procurement strategies while managing significant trade packages
- Identify, assess, and mitigate commercial and contractual risks strategically
- Handle client and subcontractor claims, variations, and requests for extensions of time
- Track and report on project financials including forecasting, cash flows, and cost management
- Develop and deliver commercial reports to project and corporate leadership teams
- Provide commercial guidance to project teams to support strategic decision-making
- Lead compliance efforts, conduct contract evaluations, and manage project audits
- Mentor and develop Contract Administrators and emerging professionals within the commercial area
- Cultivate and maintain robust relationships with clients, consultants, and subcontractors
Candidate Profile
- Extensive commercial construction experience, preferably with a head contracting firm
- Proven track record in managing large-scale residential, mixed-use, or commercial construction projects
- Strong understanding of contract law, Security of Payment legislation, and risk management in commercial contexts
- Demonstrated success leading commercial outcomes on complex construction initiatives
- Exceptional negotiation, stakeholder engagement, and communication skills
- Hands-on experience with construction software such as CHEOPS and Aconex
