Construction CAD Designer/Drafter

Position Overview

The Construction CAD Designer/Drafter at Janotta & Herner will work closely with project managers, engineers, consultants, superintendents, and clients under the direction of the Design Department Director. This role is responsible for planning, coordinating, and producing complete construction drawings for assigned projects.

Primary Responsibilities

• Engage with the project team to fully understand and develop design requirements.
• Evaluate and identify potential project risks.
• Collect necessary measurements, dimensions, and relevant data to complete drawings.
• Offer practical design advice aligned with project goals, budget constraints, site conditions, and current industry trends.
• Utilize CAD and/or Revit software proficiently to create construction-grade drawing sets.
• Create preliminary design drawings to support bidding and work acquisition processes.
• Prepare detailed drawings, specifications, and construction documentation.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Associate degree or certification in architectural drafting or a related field.
• Preferred experience ranges from 5 to 10 years in relevant roles.
• Strong proficiency with CAD software tools.
• Fundamental understanding of building design, codes, structural analysis, and specifications.
• Skilled in sketching and design principles.
• Good mathematical skills and a keen eye for detail.
• Effective organizational and time management capabilities.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Working Conditions

The position is office-based with typical working hours from 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Additional overtime may be necessary to meet project deadlines or goals. Some flexibility in working hours is expected depending on business needs and events.
