The role of Commercial Contracts Manager involves delivering expert support from the tendering phase through to project completion. Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare negotiation strategies and assist Sales, Proposal teams, Project Managers, and Service leaders within the region.
  • Review, negotiate, and authorize Non-Disclosure Agreements to support proposals.
  • Analyze commercial contracts to identify risks, develop mitigation plans, and lead negotiations on complex agreements.
  • Ensure all contracts comply with internal workflows and approval protocols.
  • Develop persuasive positions and occasionally lead negotiations concerning disputes and change orders involving customers and suppliers.
  • Collaborate with Project Management and Services leadership to implement risk management controls and processes.
  • Provide project outlines and coaching to Project Managers and Service leaders on strategies for managing high-risk projects successfully.
  • Consult with Legal teams when needed for contract negotiations and dispute resolutions.
  • Deliver both formal training and on-the-job coaching on contract management to Sales, Proposal, and Project Management teams.
  • Travel is expected to amount to approximately 20%, including some international trips.

Required Qualifications

  • A degree with a strong academic record; backgrounds in technical, engineering, legal, or business fields are advantageous.
  • More than five years’ commercial or transactional contract negotiation experience, specifically in the North American region.
  • Fluent English language skills, with proficiency in drafting and negotiating contracts; French language skills are a plus.
  • Proven ability to influence and negotiate effectively.
  • Strong understanding of legal terminology and contract concepts.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation abilities.
  • Highly organized and self-motivated with strong prioritization capabilities to handle multiple changing priorities.
  • Ability to provide innovative, business-focused advice in a dynamic global environment.
  • Experience working with diverse cultures and in matrix organizational structures involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Direct experience with customer communication and negotiation, both written and verbal.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of water treatment technologies and customer industries.
  • Experience in an expert advisory role supporting business teams.
  • Familiarity with large Design-Build contractors and their contracts.
  • In-depth knowledge of international commercial contracts.
  • Working familiarity with contract frameworks such as NEC, ICHEM, and FIDIC.
