CNC Production Manager

Overview

This position is for an experienced professional to lead CNC machining operations in a toolroom environment at Cam Engineers. The role entails managing the complete machining cycle from job planning through to final delivery. Coordination with foundry suppliers regarding casting quality and machining inputs is a vital part of the job.

Primary Duties

• Organize and distribute CNC machining jobs (turning, milling, vertical machining centre) among operators.
• Interpret engineering drawings, set up jigs and fixtures, and develop or modify CNC programs as necessary.
• Conduct quality inspections of incoming castings to identify defects such as porosity, shrinkage, sand inclusions, or dimensional non-conformance prior to machining.
• Communicate with foundry suppliers on issues related to casting quality, rejection cases, and machining allowances.
• Inspect first article and in-process machining quality, addressing any instances of rejection promptly.
• Oversee routine preventive maintenance of CNC machines and manage the inventory of cutting tools.
• Supervise, train, and guide operators and helpers ensuring adherence to safety protocols and 5S methodology.
• Provide regular daily production updates to management.

Candidate Profile

• Education: Diploma or ITI in Mechanical or Tool & Die disciplines; a degree in a related field is advantageous.
• Experience: A minimum of 8 years in CNC machining, including at least 3 years in a supervisory capacity.
• Technical Skills: Proficient in operating Fanuc and Siemens CNC controllers and skilled at interpreting GD&T engineering drawings.
• Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with various casting techniques and their typical defects such as sand, investment, and die casting imperfections.
• Leadership Experience: Comfortable supervising teams of 5 to 15 personnel.
