CMM Quality Engineer - Thermal Spray Coating

About the role

This position focuses on quality engineering for thermal spray coating operations, with hands-on responsibility for Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) activities, inspection planning, calibration, and quality-system compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Run the CMM independently and manage day-to-day measurement activities without supervision.
• Develop CMM programs on your own according to customer drawing requirements.
• Interpret drawings and GD&T callouts, then convert them into practical inspection plans.
• Carry out CMM calibration and routine maintenance tasks.
• Conduct final quality checks, including visual inspection and verification of product parameters.
• Prepare lab samples and perform evaluation work.
• Use and understand testing methods such as microhardness, Rockwell hardness, microstructure analysis, bend testing, PAT, and bond strength/adhesion testing.
• Ensure that products released from the process meet quality expectations.
• Perform daily in-house calibration of quality instruments.
• Support timely external calibration activities for laboratory equipment.
• Take part in suggestion programs and quality-improvement initiatives such as 1-1-1 and 3-1 projects, along with HSE, 5S, OOE, and cost-saving efforts.
• Make sure processes remain aligned with QMS, EMS, and internal operating standards.
• Escalate quality concerns to the Quality Manager when needed.
• Handle shift-based work for routine quality operations.
• Coordinate with external agencies for calibration and equipment/service support.
• Participate in implementation and internal audits for QMS frameworks including ISO 9001, IATF 16949, AS9100, NADCAP, and EMS ISO 14001.
• Ensure that safety requirements are followed across the department.

Candidate profile

• Degree or diploma in Mechanical or Automobile Engineering.
• 2 to 5 years of experience using CMM equipment in a quality role, with practical exposure to thermal spray coatings.
• Working knowledge of QMS standards such as ISO 9001, IATF 16949, AS9100D, and EMS ISO 14001 is required.
• Must be open to working from Tumkur and Jigani (Bangalore) locations.
• Should be prepared to relocate if needed.
• Willingness to work a 6-day schedule is required.

Compensation

The role offers an annual pay range of INR 4,00,000 to 9,00,000.
