About the Role

Join BNZ as a Client Director specializing in commercial property finance, leading lending activities across Queenstown and the broader Otago region. This senior position involves advising a diverse clientele of developers, investors, and property professionals, driving quality lending outcomes while balancing strong client relationships with commercial goals and risk management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and expand a portfolio of client groups focusing on sustainable asset growth, optimizing balance sheets, increasing deposits, generating ancillary revenue, and ensuring portfolio returns.
  • Establish and nurture solid relationships with clients, prospects, intermediaries, and market influencers to enhance BNZ's presence in the property market within the region.
  • Design and implement a robust prospecting strategy, dedicating consistent market engagement and delivering a persuasive client value proposition.
  • Originate and manage transactions involving property investment, development projects, residual stock, land, social housing, and eco-friendly initiatives.
  • Lead comprehensive credit applications that reflect strong commercial insights, clear structuring, and appropriate risk management protocols.
  • Contribute to a results-driven team culture by sharing market knowledge, facilitating training, mentoring peers, and demonstrating leadership attributes.

Candidate Profile

  • Possess extensive knowledge of commercial property lending, including investment, development, residual stock, and land financing structures.
  • Confidently make informed lending decisions, identifying and shaping high-value client opportunities.
  • Experienced in engaging with market networks and leading detailed lending discussions from initial contact through to deal completion.
  • Prior relationships within the property sector preferred, with a reputation for credibility among clients, intermediaries, and internal stakeholders.
  • Committed to maintaining portfolio quality, regulatory compliance, and prudent risk controls.
