Position Overview
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will act as the primary executive leader overseeing all dealership operations, including sales, service, parts, rental, and administration, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and company values. This leadership role requires managing multi-location teams, fostering operational excellence, boosting financial outcomes, enhancing customer satisfaction, and nurturing employee engagement to sustain growth and organizational success.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the company as the top executive and key adviser to ownership.
- Translate business goals into actionable strategies and measurable outcomes.
- Drive initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, profitability, and customer experience.
- Promote a culture rooted in accountability, teamwork, integrity, and continual improvement.
- Collaborate with owners on strategic planning and organizational growth.
- Direct all dealership operations uniformly across multiple sites.
- Set and monitor key performance indicators across departments.
- Identify and implement opportunities for improved productivity and service delivery.
- Work alongside sales leadership to maximize revenue growth, market share, and customer retention.
- Enhance service and parts department efficiency, inventory control, workforce planning, and customer satisfaction.
- Improve rental department operations, inventory management, fleet utilization, and product offerings.
- Oversee financial performance including budgeting, forecasting, expense management, and long-term financial planning.
- Develop and mentor leadership talent, promote succession planning, and build high-performing teams.
- Ensure regulatory compliance, workplace safety, risk management, and company policy adherence.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting-Finance, or related discipline.
- At least 10 years of progressive leadership experience with comprehensive operational responsibilities.
- Proven effectiveness managing multi-location businesses and financial results.
- Strong operational and financial acumen including budgeting and KPI management.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational capabilities.
- Experience in equipment dealership operations preferred.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel regularly between dealership locations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) or equivalent advanced degree.
- Background in construction, heavy or agricultural equipment, rental, or service industries.
- Experience managing various business units and multi-site organizations.
- Demonstrated success in operational transformation and efficiency initiatives.

Compensation
The anticipated salary range for this exempt position is $250,000 to $325,000 annually, dependent on experience, plus performance bonuses.
