Role Overview

The Chess Instructor is responsible for delivering organized, face-to-face coaching to students of varying expertise within the Hyderabad facility. Key daily duties include crafting and presenting instructional sessions, illustrating vital chess concepts and tactics, examining gameplay, coordinating practice drills, and preparing students for competitions and internal evaluations. The role demands vigilant tracking of learner progress, offering constructive criticism, nurturing an inclusive and positive classroom atmosphere, and engaging with student families or guardians when appropriate. This position is strictly full-time on-site and may require working during evenings or weekends to accommodate academy schedules.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Expert knowledge of chess, including detailed understanding of opening theory, mid-game strategies, and endgame procedures.
• Capability to integrate mathematical reasoning and logical analysis to elucidate patterns, calculations, and positional assessments.
• Proven experience in teaching or tutoring, ideally with children and young adults within a formal learning framework.
• Competence in designing training programs, including lesson plans, practice schedules, and performance monitoring.
• Excellent verbal and patient communication skills, able to break down complex concepts into engaging and straightforward explanations.
• Dedication to providing inclusive and respectful educational experiences, embracing diversity among learners.
• Participation in official rated chess competitions or prior experience coaching competitive players is advantageous.
• Possession of chess coaching or educational certifications, or demonstrable success in coaching roles, is favorable.
