Role Overview
The Change Management Specialist will oversee and execute the comprehensive Change Management lifecycle, ensuring all IT changes are properly planned, assessed, authorized, implemented, and reviewed to minimize risks to business operations. This role emphasizes strict adherence to process compliance, quality standards, continual improvements, and fosters coordination among technical, business, and governance stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the entire change request process from submission through validation, impact evaluation, approval, execution, and closure.
- Ensure that changes conform to established Change Management policies, frameworks, templates, and compliance criteria.
- Validate correct categorization and prioritization of changes such as Standard, Normal, or Emergency types.
- Confirm changes include detailed testing, execution strategies, back-out plans, and risk evaluations.
- Organize and chair Change Advisory Board (CAB) and Emergency CAB meetings, ensuring all stakeholders are informed and participate.
- Prepare meeting agendas, summarize changes, highlight risks, and accurately document CAB decisions including approvals or deferrals.
- Evaluate the technical completeness, risk, business impact, and interdependencies of each change.
- Address conflicts including change collisions, scheduling clashes, blackout windows, maintenance windows, and business freeze periods.
- Monitor execution of significant and high-risk changes, ensure timely communication to all stakeholders, and manage incidents such as failures or rollbacks.
- Develop and distribute weekly and monthly Change Management dashboards reporting KPIs like success and failure rates, emergency changes, unauthorized changes, and SLA compliance.
- Analyze trends and propose necessary corrective measures.
- Conduct Post Implementation Reviews for critical or failed changes to identify planning or testing gaps and work collaboratively to prevent recurrence through integration with Problem and Incident teams.
- Drive automation and process enhancements within IT Service Management platforms.
- Engage with application, infrastructure, service teams and vendors to coordinate change activities and communicate key information to business leadership.
- Provide training on Change Management policies and best practices to technical teams.
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or related disciplines.
- 5 to 7 years of experience in IT Service Management or Change Management, including 2 to 3 years in a leadership capacity.
- Comprehensive knowledge of ITIL V3/V4 frameworks; certification in Change Management is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to manage changes across complex enterprise environments encompassing cloud, networks, applications, and infrastructure.
- Strong skills in coordination, communication, and decision-making.
- Proficient in IT Service Management tools such as ServiceNow, Remedy, and Jira Service Management.
