Role Summary
The Cargo Flight Operations Agent plays a critical role within the flight operations team, responsible for managing and coordinating all cargo-related activities tied to the airline's flight schedules. This includes ensuring cargo is handled safely, compliantly, and efficiently from initial acceptance through loading and unloading phases. The role demands collaboration with cargo agents, flight crews, ground operations, and other relevant departments to guarantee timely and precise cargo delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily cargo handling for scheduled flights including coordinating operations.
- Manage cargo documentation such as air waybills, shipment manifests, customs forms, and records.
- Track inbound and outbound shipments to ensure accurate and prompt processing.
- Monitor and communicate flight status changes or delays to appropriate stakeholders.
- Engage with customers, freight forwarders, flight crews, ground staff, and internal teams to facilitate smooth cargo flow.
- Ensure all cargo activities comply with aviation regulations, company policies, safety standards, and security protocols.
- Support cargo acceptance by verifying shipment documentation and contents.
- Handle cargo discrepancies including delays, damage claims, and misrouted shipments.
- Assist in resource planning by monitoring cargo volumes to meet operational needs.
- Maintain thorough operational records and generate necessary reports.
- Assist in processing dangerous goods and special cargo adhering to regulatory requirements.
- Promote workplace safety culture by following health and safety standards and reporting procedures.
- Adhere strictly to Swissport Standard Operating Procedures and operational policies.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is detail-focused, highly organised, and adept at administrative coordination in a high-pressure environment. You excel at juggling multiple tasks, ensuring accuracy and timeliness, and communicating effectively across various teams and external partners.
Essential Attributes
- Strong organisational and administrative skills including documentation management, data entry, scheduling, and record maintenance.
- Exceptional attention to detail coupled with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills for collaborating internally and externally.
- Proficiency in computer use, including Microsoft Office and digital record-keeping systems.
- Dependable, professional attitude with flexibility and a commitment to teamwork and ongoing development.
Preferred Experience and Qualifications
- Familiarity with cargo management software such as Cargospot and flight operations platforms.
- Experience in import/export air cargo handling and related administration.
- Understanding of aviation or logistics operations, including occupational health and safety compliance.
- Possession or willingness to gain IATA Dangerous Goods Air certification for handling hazardous shipments.
- Knowledge of quality assurance and safety management systems.
