Role Overview
Valkyrie Enterprises is seeking a Cable Plant Engineer Tech-II to perform installation and maintenance of fiber optic and other telecommunication cabling and equipment in Amman, Jordan, contingent on customer approval.
Key Responsibilities
- Install fiber optic cabling, modems, multiplex units, patch panels, and distribution frames.
- Perform cable installation in manholes and conduit duct systems.
- Install, pull, test, terminate, splice (including fusion splicing), maintain, and repair fiber optic, copper, and coaxial cabling systems.
- Set up interior fiber, copper, and coaxial cabling.
- Install equipment like cabinets, cable ladders, racks, and other components.
- Create access to buried communication cables and handle trenching or chiseling.
- Implement distinct red and black interior signal cable distribution and exterior/interior coaxial cable systems to interface tactical and commercial cabling.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent plus at least 3 years in U.S. Military Schools focused on Electronic Communications Equipment/Systems and a rank equivalent to E-5 or completion of commercial trade school or similar job training.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience within the last decade in inside plant operations, telecom equipment installation, testing, maintenance, and repair.
- At least 3 years in installation and servicing of telecommunications cabling, including coaxial and fiber optic, aerial, underground, and buried multi-purpose cables.
- Hands-on experience in duct/conduit installation, cable pulling, termination, splicing, and repair across copper, coaxial, and fiber optic cables.
- Competence in installing fiber optic modems, multiplexers, patch panels, distribution frames, grounding, and lightning protection.
- Certified experience operating trenching machinery, cable reel trucks, and excavation equipment.
- Practical exposure to telephony system maintenance including electronic repair and installation.
- Valid U.S. driver's license and U.S. citizenship required.
- Current passport mandatory.
Preferred Qualifications
- BICSI certification(s) is an asset.
Security and Compliance
- Active Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Security Clearance required.
- Must successfully pass pre-deployment screening and complete a military Conus Replacement Center (CRC) process.
Travel and Identification
- Occasional travel required, up to 10%.
- Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain REAL ID or equivalent identification for secure federal or military site access if travel involves flights or facility entry.
Physical Demands
- Physical activities include climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and fine motor tasks.
- Capability to exert varying force levels up to 50 pounds is necessary.
- Work environments may include exposure to extreme heat or cold and confined spaces.
- Prolonged standing or sitting, with repetitive wrist, hand, and finger motions required.
