Role overview
Based in Berlin, this internship places you within Tesla’s Cabin Engineering team, where you’ll work in a fast-moving setting on the design, prototyping, and launch of components used in Model Y and upcoming vehicle programs. The role exposes you to customer-facing styling, function, quality, and manufacturability across cabin subsystems such as the instrument panel, door trim, center console, overhead area, hard trims, soft trims, and seats. You will report directly to the Manager of Cabin Engineering.

Key responsibilities
- Develop 3D and 2D models for intricate parts and assemblies.
- Assist with vehicle program milestones and prototype/production build phases through design work, prototyping, and root-cause investigation.
- Work closely with internal groups such as Craftsmanship, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain.
- Build and maintain reliable references or source documents for important system attributes.
- Partner with suppliers on manufacturability, part quality, and issue resolution.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams including Vehicle Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and Procurement to ensure parts can be built, assembled, and serviced efficiently.
Requirements
- You should currently be pursuing a B.S., M.S., or another advanced degree in a relevant discipline such as Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechatronics, or a similar field.
- Strong grasp of engineering fundamentals, including materials, mechanics, dynamics, and part/assembly design.
- Good communication skills and the ability to influence stakeholders across the organization.
- A hands-on mindset, initiative, strong collaboration ability, and enthusiasm for innovation.
- Experience with CAD tools is required; Catia V5/V6 and 3DExperience are considered an advantage.
- English proficiency at C1 level, both written and spoken.
