Doodle is a widely used B2B SaaS platform facilitating meeting scheduling and teamwork coordination for millions of professionals globally. We focus on advancing scheduling and productivity through innovative solutions. Our backend architecture relies on a high-performance ecosystem composed primarily of Java and Go services utilizing Kafka for event streaming with an emphasis on reliability and throughput.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy scalable, reliable backend services primarily in Java to support core platform functionality.
• Implement backend endpoints accessible through GraphQL, optimizing data queries and ensuring seamless integration with frontend clients.
• Architect event-driven systems with Kafka to enable robust data flow and responsiveness across distributed services.
• Maintain comprehensive oversight of the entire backend ecosystem, understanding cross-service workflows and codebases in multiple languages.
• Leverage AI-powered tools and agentic workflows to accelerate development cycles without compromising code ownership or quality.
• Address complex problems related to time management, processing, and presentation on a global scale.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to translate intricate scheduling requirements into clear and efficient technical implementations.

Candidate Profile

• Driven by building impactful products and committed to clean and maintainable systems.
• Possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical expertise.
• Demonstrated experience designing and operating concurrent, production-grade backend services in Java.
• Strong aptitude for systems-level thinking and ability to analyze and debug codebases involving multiple programming languages.
• Experience working with distributed systems, microservice architectures, and event-driven platforms using Kafka.
• Preferred qualifications include proficiency with AI-assisted development workflows, reactive programming, cloud services such as AWS or GCP, container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes), solid computer science fundamentals including algorithms and data structures, and GraphQL API design.
• Applicants must be currently residing in Germany and have full legal work authorization; visa sponsorship or relocation assistance is not available.
