Role Overview
The Assurance Manager role involves delivering independent engineering assurance to ensure Pullman Rail consistently meets safety, compliance, and quality standards. This leadership position oversees the Quality, Competence, and Inspection teams to enforce governance and continuous improvement across engineering functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop Quality, Competence, and Inspection teams, fostering collaboration and a culture centered on continuous enhancement.
- Manage and enhance the Quality Management System, including internal audits and coordination of external certification audits to maintain compliance with ISO 9001, RISAS, and the Integrated Management System.
- Oversee Competence Management Systems to guarantee effective training, evaluation, authorization, and assurance for safe engineering practices.
- Direct engineering inspection processes and product assurance activities, ensuring non-conformance management and ongoing improvement.
- Analyze quality data and assurance reports to identify risks and trends, support defect investigations, and champion initiatives for operational improvements.
- Collaborate extensively with Engineering, Operations, customers, and auditors to provide independent assurance and uphold exceptional engineering standards.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in leading quality or assurance functions within a regulated engineering environment, preferably in the rail or other safety-critical sectors. Proficiency with Quality Management Systems, auditing, governance, and competence management is crucial. A solid grasp of engineering standards and product verification methodologies is required.
Essential qualifications include knowledge of ISO 9001. Familiarity with RISAS, RISQS, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 is considered beneficial. Applicants should be confident leaders capable of building high-performance teams, influencing across organizational levels, and delivering meaningful improvements. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills are important to manage complex information and competing priorities effectively.
Additional Information
The salary for this position is up to £50,000 per year. Applicants must have the permanent right to work within the UK as sponsorship is not available.
