Associate Equity Research Analyst

About the Role

This position is based in New York, NY at 1301 Avenue of the Americas and is part of KeyBanc Capital Markets (KBCM). The Associate Equity Research Analyst supports senior research staff by conducting detailed analyses within assigned industry sectors, focusing on individual companies and their securities.

Primary Responsibilities

• Gather and assess statistical and financial information regarding the economy and stock market, specifically analyzing common stocks in targeted industries.
• Analyze and integrate researched data to identify trends and business opportunities, supporting investment strategies.
• Develop and communicate insights and recommendations for securities and corporate performance within one or more industry groups.
• Prepare detailed reports, investment opinions, and financial data, assisting in financial statement modeling to guide firm investment policies.
• Respond to inquiries from internal personnel about specific securities or sectors and contribute to public firm reports.
• Produce specialized studies, forecasts, models, and presentations for Syndicate and Investment Banking teams related to securities offerings and underwriting activities.
• Conduct interviews with company executives and industry experts to gather intelligence for analysis preparation.
• Maintain and update company databases using spreadsheets and specialized database software.
• Perform additional duties as assigned, adapting to evolving responsibilities.
• Adhere strictly to KeyBank policies, including ethical business conduct, conflict of interest avoidance, and prioritizing client and firm interests.

Educational Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance, or a closely related discipline, or completion of at least three advanced accounting or financial analysis courses.

Experience

• Minimum of one year in an analytical or finance-related position.
• Proven experience in corporate financial modeling is essential.

Required Skills

• Effective verbal and written communication capabilities.
• Proficiency in constructing financial models and handling equity datasets.
• Competence in conducting independent and detailed financial research, familiarity with platforms such as Bloomberg and Capital IQ.
• Strong analytical skills for organizing and interpreting complex data sets.
• Advanced skills with Microsoft Excel and Access software.
• A solid understanding of financial markets, including knowledge of market dynamics.
• Ability to distill data findings clearly and deliver persuasive presentations.

The role is categorized under a hybrid (sales) work model, prioritizing in-office presence with some flexibility.

Compensation and Benefits

The annual base salary ranges from $71,000 to $125,000, with placement dependent on experience, skills, and location. The compensation package also includes eligibility for incentives such as production bonuses, commissions, or discretionary awards.
