Role Overview
The Associate AI Builder role involves crafting agentic systems that drive exceptional customer experiences in healthcare, including scheduling, referrals, billing, and more. Working closely with a customer-focused team, you'll manage projects from discovery through implementation and ongoing enhancement, ensuring solutions align with the evolving needs of healthcare providers.
Key Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of solution delivery and customer outcomes for assigned clients, representing Artera with professionalism in client interactions.
- Develop strategic roadmaps to identify and resolve client challenges effectively.
- Coordinate stakeholders and data integration to enable seamless onboarding and adoption of technological solutions.
- Design and develop innovative technical solutions tailored to client operations using internal agentic systems.
- Monitor and refine released products to enhance reliability and functionality; participate in support rotations as needed.
- Utilize AI-native tools primarily through command-line interfaces, managing broad responsibilities in technology development.
- Build and sustain deep expertise in healthcare domains and integration technologies relevant to client segments.
- Guide and mentor junior team members, fostering high standards in technology and customer engagement.
- Collaborate in prioritization and planning activities at the squad level with leadership.
Qualifications
- 0 to 2 years of experience in software engineering, data science, machine learning, product management, design, or technical project management, including recent graduates.
- Proven ability to leverage AI-native tools efficiently, matching or surpassing output of traditional engineers.
- Capability to directly engage and manage customer relationships, translating client needs into technical implementations.
- Product management curiosity with structured project management skills: prioritizing, sequencing, status reporting, and delivering results.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for explaining complex concepts clearly to various audiences.
Preferred Experience
- Background in healthcare technology, digital health, or patient-centered products.
- Hands-on experience with agentic systems, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines, or multi-component platform integrations.
- Knowledge of HIPAA, HITRUST, or FedRAMP compliance in development processes.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, NextGen, or call center/CCaaS integrations.
- Experience establishing evaluation metrics and quality assurance for large language model-driven solutions.
Additional Information
This position supports a federal product and requires eligibility for government background checks and compliance with security standards for data protection. Responsibilities include secure access management, incident response, and operational continuity, with ongoing training on compliance.
Work Location: The role is onsite at Artera's Santa Barbara, CA headquarters. Artera emphasizes in-person collaboration within focused teams, with U.S. hiring concentrated in Santa Barbara, Seattle, and Kansas City.
