Position Summary
We have an exciting opening for the role of Assistant Transport Manager within our Distribution Team, located at our Furniture Warehouse Facility in Carnmore, Galway. Key Duties
- Assist the Transport Manager in planning delivery routes and managing field capacity effectively.
- Support oversight and management of delivery personnel, including absence handling, resource allocation, and performance monitoring.
- Ensure the delivery teams operate at their highest efficiency levels.
- Evaluate existing delivery routes and recommend adjustments as needed, communicating these changes accordingly.
- Manage printing and distribution of all scheduling master sheets.
- Act as a liaison point for delivery-related issues, coordinating between operational units and customers as required.
- Prepare and distribute delivery and transfer documents to teams appropriately.
- Take responsibility for the upkeep and maintenance coordination of the delivery fleet, collaborating with the Transport Manager.
- Oversee tracking system monitoring and reporting (Vanguarder), analyze tracking data for performance feedback, and initiate corrective actions when necessary.
- Comply with Health and Safety regulations, including RSA standards.
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in a comparable supervisory or transport role with personnel management responsibility.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
- Strong organizational aptitude and time management skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with database management.
- Experienced mentor committed to developing team members.
- In-depth knowledge of workplace Health and Safety legislation, including conducting toolbox talks.
- Collaborative mindset and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Competent in reporting and data-driven decision-making.
- Analytically and numerically oriented.
