About the Institution

The Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU) is one of Europe's foremost universities, boasting a heritage of over 500 years. It is renowned for its high academic standards and outstanding research. Within LMU, the Medical Faculty’s Biomedizinisches Centrum (BMC) focuses on bridging fundamental research with clinical applications, studying molecular causes of diseases such as multiple sclerosis, cancer, and Alzheimer's, and developing new therapies.

The Core Facility Animal Models (CAM) is a scientific facility within the BMC dedicated to cell biology and supporting researchers utilizing animal models.

Position Overview

We are seeking an Assistant to support the facility management located in Planegg. The role involves financial management, administration, and coordinating facility-related operations, supporting both the leadership and facility users.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the core facility's finances, including recording provided services, issuing invoices, and processing purchase orders and incoming invoices, coordinating closely with the BMC administration office.
  • Support personnel management duties and oversee team work schedules.
  • Act as the main point of contact for researchers wishing to use the facility—sharing information, scheduling appointments, and setting up user profiles.
  • Coordinate maintenance and repair arrangements with building services and external contractors.
  • Collaborate with facility leadership to maintain and update the website and official documents for users.

Candidate Profile

  • Completed vocational training as an office management clerk or equivalent qualification, or a qualified career changer with relevant finance and personnel administration experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; basic knowledge of website design is an advantage.
  • Working knowledge of English, both written and spoken, preferred due to the international scientific environment.
  • Strong communication skills with diverse groups.
  • Organized and methodical working style, capable of working independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience in managing research animal facilities is desirable but not mandatory.

What We Offer

  • Salary according to the TV-L pay scale, grade E6.
  • Employment available full-time or part-time (minimum 50% or 20 hours per week), with flexible scheduling options.
  • Work location at the Martinsried campus, accessible by car and public transport.
  • An engaging, responsible, and varied role with long-term career prospects.
  • A positive working environment within a motivated and dedicated team.
  • A secure and crisis-proof workplace with dependable and flexible working hours.
  • Comprehensive onboarding and ongoing training programs.
  • Opportunities to contribute to BMC initiatives like the Green Lab and Diversity Program.
  • Company pension scheme, capital-forming benefits, and annual special payment.
  • Work-life balance support including flexible and mobile working options, part-time possibilities, and childcare support (e.g., holiday and emergency care offerings).
  • 30 days of holiday plus additional leave on December 24th and 31st.
  • Several campus dining options and health promotion programs.
  • Access to cultural events with discounts and vouchers.
  • Mobility benefits including subsidized public transportation tickets, job bikes, and electric vehicle charging stations.

Diversity and Inclusion

Diversity is a core strategic goal of our center, and we actively champion equal opportunities and inclusivity (according to the BMC Code of Conduct). Preference will be given to applicants with disabilities of equivalent qualifications.
