Overview
The New York City Police Department is dedicated to improving the quality of life in the city by collaborating with the community to enforce laws, maintain peace, protect citizens, reduce fear, and uphold order. Key Responsibilities
- Provide security by monitoring New York City Public School buildings and grounds against unauthorized access, theft, and illegal activities.
- Welcome and assist students, staff, and visitors by directing them to appropriate personnel or offices.
- Conduct routine inspections of school facilities including doors, windows, gates, locks, and equipment.
- Prevent loitering and trespassing and help maintain order on and around school property.
- Respond to telephone and doorbell calls ensuring premises safety.
- Summon medical, police, or fire assistance as necessary.
- Help identify individuals violating school regulations.
- Perform clerical duties when required.
Qualifications
- Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED); applicants must clearly state the date of attainment on their resume.
- Fulfillment of medical, physical, psychological, and character standards applicable to School Safety Agents.
- U.S. citizenship is mandatory.

- Applicants must be at least 21 years old to take the School Safety Exam.
- Employment requires verification of identity and eligibility to work in the U.S.
- New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of hire, with certain exceptions after two years of continuous service allowing residency in nearby counties.

Work Schedule and Location
