Role Overview
The Assistant Housekeeping Manager plays a vital role in driving operational excellence and maintaining the highest standards to guarantee a flawless guest experience. This position supports the Housekeeping department by managing daily operations, controlling budgets, and enhancing team performance with strong leadership and communication.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with supervising overall Housekeeping department functions and operations.
- Maintain effective budgeting through cost control, inventory management, and optimized staffing schedules.
- Support achievement of departmental goals by implementing schedules, budgets, policies, and procedures.
- Oversee team standards and performance, emphasizing coaching, training, and fostering teamwork.
- Ensure staff are knowledgeable about all room types and amenities to maintain service quality.
- Collaborate with the Executive Housekeeper to promote positive communication and relationships within all hotel departments and external vendors.
- Schedule manpower to adequately meet business demand levels.
- Promote continuous training initiatives supporting the Housekeeping Manager.
- Conduct regular communications and ensure meeting notes are documented and distributed.
- Handle staff performance issues according to company policies and procedures.
- Assist other hotel departments when necessary, supporting interdepartmental cooperation.
- Engage in team management, development, coaching, and performance evaluation.
- Adhere strictly to departmental policies and procedures, including safety and sanitation protocols.
- Report maintenance concerns promptly to facilitate timely resolutions.
- Exemplify a positive "Yes I Can" attitude, and comply with the company’s Responsible Business ethics.
Candidate Qualifications
- Experience of 4–6 years in hotel housekeeping operations, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or assistant managerial capacity.
- Deep understanding of housekeeping hygiene, safety standards, and procedures across guest rooms, public spaces, back-of-house, and food & beverage areas.
- Ability to manage high-volume, fast-paced housekeeping operations while maintaining consistent quality during peak periods.
- Proven experience overseeing room attendants, public area cleaning teams, and F&B cleaning operations.
- Skilled in conducting room inspections, public area audits, and quality control checks.
- Hands-on knowledge in managing linen, uniforms, and inventory in large-scale hotel operations.
- Competency in manpower planning, duty roster management, and productivity monitoring for sizable teams.
- Experience supporting recruitment, onboarding, training, coaching, and performance management initiatives.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
- Ability to perform under pressure, meet deadlines, and uphold standards in a dynamic environment.
- Proficient with hotel management software such as Opera or comparable PMS and basic Microsoft Office applications.
- Good command of spoken and written English; knowledge of additional languages is advantageous.
- Exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational capabilities, and a guest-centric perspective.
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
