Assistant Designer

Role Overview

Atelier Rebul UK is looking for a creative and detail-focused Assistant Designer to aid in beauty and fragrance design projects, spanning from early research and concept formulation to artwork, sampling, and project follow-ups. This position, employed by Minel Cosmetic Limited, involves close collaboration with the Senior Designer, New Product Development Manager, and Private Brands team, providing practical support across product, packaging, and new product development projects aimed at UK clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Investigate new trends in beauty, fragrance, lifestyle, colors, materials, and packaging.
• Track competitor developments and translate findings into clear mood and trend boards with commercially viable creative directions.
• Contribute creative ideas during concept creation and assist in preparing visual reference materials for new products, collections, and gifting projects.
• Assist in designing product and packaging ideas across fragrance, home fragrance, bath and body, gifting, and other related beauty categories.
• Create sketches, layouts, mock-ups, and design visualizations that effectively communicate creative intentions.
• Help with primary and secondary packaging, gift sets, limited editions, and adapt designs related to launches.
• Ensure design output aligns with UK customer briefs, brand identities, and meets commercial, technical, and production needs.
• Prepare and adjust artwork in Adobe Illustrator based on dielines, specifications, and design input.
• Support the preparation of precise production-ready files under the guidance and approval of senior design leadership.
• Develop product mock-ups, concept boards, materials for suppliers, and internal presentations.
• Maintain organized design files with systematic naming and version control.
• Assist with projects from concept stage through sampling, approval, and launch, ensuring timelines and design actions are tracked.
• Coordinate with suppliers regarding artwork, specifications, samples, finishes, and design changes.
• Review samples and proofs with management, record feedback, and organize necessary revisions.
• Maintain project trackers and follow up with internal and external parties on pending design and sample tasks.
• Identify potential design, quality, or scheduling issues early and offer practical solutions.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• A university degree in Graphic Design, Packaging Design, Product Design, Visual Communication, or a related creative field.
• Entry-level or early-stage design experience; internships, placements, or freelance work are welcome.
• A design portfolio showcasing creativity, design thinking, and meticulous attention to detail.
• Solid knowledge of Adobe Illustrator.
• Good grasp of typography, color, layout, and maintaining brand consistency.
• Effective communication of creative concepts via sketches, visuals, and presentations.
• Strong organizational and time management abilities to juggle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• A proactive, team-oriented mindset with openness to constructive feedback.
• Professional proficiency in written and spoken English, with capability to work efficiently remotely and in-office.

Working Conditions

• This part-time role entails working 16 hours per week.
• The initial schedule includes two working days weekly: one day onsite at the London office and one day remote.
• Specific working days are flexible and agreed upon beforehand with the manager.
• Possibility exists to increase working days in the future based on business requirements and mutual approval.
