Barden has been appointed exclusively by a reputable distributor operating in Ireland and the UK to find an experienced Assistant Accountant who will join their growing finance department.

Role Overview

This key position reports directly to the Financial Controller and involves collaboration with the wider finance team. The role offers significant involvement in month-end closing procedures, production of financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and opportunities for professional growth.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform bank reconciliations and compile daily cash flow forecasts for senior finance team evaluation.
  • Handle daily customer refunds and settlements while ensuring all details are precise prior to approval.
  • Oversee the customer invoicing process and reconcile accounts, maintaining compliance with credit terms.
  • Generate and deliver accounts receivable reports and month-end analyses including provisioning for bad debts and tracking aged debt trends.
  • Coordinate month-end tasks such as intercompany reconciliations.
  • Work collaboratively across finance and broader operational units.
  • Assist with audit activities by preparing necessary documentation for internal and external auditors.

Candidate Profile

  • Qualified as an accounting technician or partially qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA).
  • At least three years’ experience in accounting with expertise in bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, and payroll processing.
  • Solid understanding of accounting standards including debit and credit functions.
  • Strong analytical, numerical reasoning and communication capabilities.
  • High degree of accuracy and competence to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel (including VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables), and other ERP software systems.
