Role & Impact

The Analytics Engineer will convert Blinq's data assets into reliable insights supporting Product, Growth, Revenue, and Operations teams. This hybrid position is based in Melbourne or Sydney and sits at the crossroads of data engineering and analytics.

Main Responsibilities

• Maintain and develop Blinq’s analytics framework by creating robust, reusable data models from raw business and product data.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product, Growth, and Finance to translate complex questions into actionable metrics and analyses.
• Construct and oversee scalable ELT pipelines using SQL, dbt, and cloud data technologies.
• Establish canonical metrics and semantic models ensuring consistent use of definitions in reports and dashboards.
• Create and enhance dashboards and self-service reports enabling teams to operate efficiently without frequent ad hoc analyses.
• Support analytics related to product usage, experimentation tactics such as funnel analysis, cohort studies, retention, monetization, and A/B testing.
• Improve trustworthiness and quality of data by implementing testing, documentation, data lineage tracking, monitoring, and clear ownership strategies.
• Analyze complex performance issues, identify root causes, and provide actionable insights.
• Work alongside software and data engineers to enhance data reliability through better instrumentation and event tracking.
• Elevate the company’s data analytics capabilities by developing improved standards, tools, and best practices as the organization scales.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• At least 3 years' experience in analytics engineering, data analytics, BI, or data engineering, ideally within a fast-paced SaaS environment, showing a strong sense of ownership and adaptability.
• Proficient in advanced SQL and dbt, with expertise designing maintainable data models and enforcing rigorous testing and documentation standards.
• Experience using cloud data warehouses such as BigQuery, Snowflake, or Redshift, with solid knowledge of ELT processes, dimensional modeling, and data governance principles.
• Demonstrated ability to define reliable metrics, build impactful dashboards or self-service reports, and collaborate effectively with stakeholders to clarify ambiguous questions.
• Strong understanding of product and business metrics, including user behavior, experimentation strategies, and revenue impact, with the ability to present insights clearly and practically.
