Overview
The Analyst in Gemstone Acquisition plays a crucial role in supporting efficient sourcing processes for product development, special projects, and client requests across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate product development orders and special project requests by reviewing and confirming Bills of Materials (BOM) and lead times within the GEM system.
- Handle operational processes including tracking consumption and de-consumption for prototypes and production test units, while maintaining and updating BOMs accordingly.
- Maintain accurate diamond card data within the GEM platform.
- Manage monthly stone returns from manufacturing partners.
- Print orders and prepare design estimates as needed.
- Communicate actively with stone suppliers regarding invoicing and return-to-vendor (RTV) processes.
- Keep systematic records of all product development projects to facilitate monitoring and control.
- Collaborate daily with teams such as product development, retail support, and merchandise planning to address their requirements promptly.
- Establish and maintain strong cross-functional collaborations with Product Development, Operations, Merchandise Planning, Supply Management, Quality Assurance, and Logistics.
Job Relationships
- Work closely with cross-departmental teams including Quality Assurance, Logistics, Inventory Control, and Merchandise Planning to support business objectives effectively.
Qualifications and Skills
- Ability to work independently, demonstrating strong decision-making capabilities in vendor scheduling and prioritization.
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher preferred, alongside at least four years of business experience.
- Educational background or training from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) is advantageous.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact effectively with management and stakeholders.
- Strict adherence to company policies, including safety, confidentiality, and attendance.
- Adaptability to shifting priorities and willingness to assume varied responsibilities within the department as necessary.
- Capability to thrive in a dynamic, team-oriented workplace.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and advanced organizational skills.
- Self-driven with a strong motivation to achieve results.
- Detail-oriented with solid administrative and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience or knowledge in fine jewelry and gemstones is considered a plus.
