AI Safety Specialist

Position Overview

We are seeking an AI Safety Specialist for an hourly contract role offering $60 to $70 per hour. This remote position requires a commitment of 10 to 40 hours per week and focuses on evaluating the safety, accuracy, and compliance of AI-generated content across sensitive domains.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess AI outputs for safety, factual correctness, adherence to policies, and overall quality standards.
• Review content addressing topics such as misinformation, political influence, self-harm, violence, cybersecurity, biosecurity, and other sensitive areas.
• Implement and improve evaluation frameworks related to reinforcement learning with human feedback (RLHF), supervised fine-tuning (SFT), and AI safety benchmarks.
• Detect unsafe AI responses, hallucinations, reasoning errors, and breaches of policy.
• Offer detailed feedback aimed at enhancing model alignment and safety functionality.
• Work collaboratively with AI researchers and safety teams on ongoing evaluation projects.

Qualifications and Skills

• A bachelor's degree or higher in fields such as Journalism, Communications, Psychology, Sociology, Public Policy, Law, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, or similar areas.
• Relevant professional experience in AI safety, trust and safety, journalism, public policy, scientific research, security, or related fields.
• Strong command of written English, critical thinking abilities, and analytical reasoning.
• Capability to consistently judge complex and policy-sensitive scenarios.
• Background in AI safety methodologies including RLHF, SFT, trust and safety, or AI output evaluation is preferred.
