About the Role
Dacorum Borough Council is undertaking a significant digital improvement initiative aimed at enhancing customer interactions and equipping employees with modern digital tools and skills. As part of this effort, the Digital, Data and Technology Team is seeking a Web Content Officer to support the Housing Transformation and Improvement Programme by enhancing the council's online housing services.
Responsibilities
The Web Content Officer will collaborate closely with Housing teams to develop, design, and refine web content that enables customers to easily find information and complete tasks. Using plain English and user-centered design principles, the role involves clarifying complex information to ensure accessibility and simplicity. The officer will continuously leverage data, user feedback, and web analytics to keep website and MyDacorum content effective, accessible, and trusted by users.
Required Skills and Qualities
Applicants should possess strong writing and editing capabilities, an excellent attention to detail, and enthusiasm for producing clear, accessible digital content. The role requires confidence in working collaboratively with various teams and using insights to drive content improvements that simplify customer interactions with council services.
Additional Information
A basic Disclosure and Barring Service check is mandatory to confirm that candidates have no relevant convictions. The recruitment timeline and interview dates will be communicated accordingly.
Local Government Reorganisation Context
The council is undergoing significant organizational change as part of the Local Government Reorganisation, which will replace district and borough councils in Hertfordshire with fewer unitary councils starting 1 April 2028. New employees hired before this date will transition to the new authority with possible changes in reporting lines and working methods. This transition represents a unique chance to contribute to reshaping local public services with opportunities for innovation, growth, and improved service delivery.
Dacorum Borough Council is dedicated to supporting staff throughout this transformation while maintaining high service standards for residents.
