Role Overview
We are seeking a Training Lead for Mathematics to build teachers' capabilities within the Khan Academy programme in Andhra Pradesh, collaborating closely with UNICEF and the AP education department. This role will concentrate on training mentor teachers to support their peers, enhancing math teachers' instructional and content knowledge for grades 11 and 12 using Khan Academy and its AI tool Khanmigo, and improving student learning outcomes, particularly for girls.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a professional development plan for teachers, mentors, and principals.
- Enhance classroom teaching quality and student conceptual understanding through adoption of Khanmigo and related digital tools.
- Support teachers in utilizing AI-enhanced pedagogical explanations and identifying student misconceptions.
- Analyze student data to track progress, identify gaps, and guide tailored instructional strategies.
- Conduct multiple monthly field visits to mentor teachers for classroom observation, feedback, and problem-solving.
- Oversee a feedback system where mentors assess teacher-generated resources to ensure quality.
- Serve as a mathematics subject leader collaborating with mentor teachers and integrating AI tools to improve teaching efficacy.
- Monitor and support teacher engagement and learning progress using dashboard analytics.
- Maintain thorough documentation of training activities for reporting and participate in program reviews.
- Provide additional program support as required.
Required Profile
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience, including at least 3 years teaching mathematics for grades 11 and 12.
- Exceptional mastery of senior secondary mathematics concepts with the ability to translate theory into effective teaching.
- Mandatory fluency in Telugu.
- Experience designing and delivering teacher training programs is desirable.
- Interest or experience with educational technology and AI tools is advantageous.
- Preparedness for frequent travel within Andhra Pradesh (up to 50% monthly) for training and school visits.
