Trade Maintenance Build Technician

Overview

The role of a Trade Maintenance Build Technician is vital for maintaining safety, functionality, and a welcoming environment across Tesco stores and car parks in Essex. This position demands hands-on participation in various building maintenance tasks ranging from planned upkeep to unexpected repairs. The job encompasses diverse activities such as brickwork, carpentry, pothole repairs, and drainage system maintenance, requiring adaptability and strong problem-solving capabilities.

Key Duties

• Providing general building maintenance to ensure Tesco sites remain secure, operational, and inviting.
• Executing planned and reactive repairs, striving for first-time resolution and consistently high-quality results.
• Handling multiple building tasks including masonry, carpentry, concrete work, tiling, roofing, and drainage upkeep.
• Operating both independently and collaboratively to address maintenance issues efficiently.
• Maintaining clear communication with stakeholders regarding work progress.
• Applying problem-solving techniques to identify and implement practical building solutions.
• Managing repair projects through to completion and updating statuses using mobile technology and business systems.
• Being available to work weekends when necessary, compensated as overtime.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Hands-on experience in general building maintenance including bricklaying, roof work, cement and concrete preparation, groundwork and paving, tiling, flooring, plastering, and dry walling.
• Possession of a full UK driving licence.
• Strong awareness of health and safety regulations.
• Effective communication abilities to collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders.
• Basic proficiency with IT tools, specifically mobile devices and Office 365 for reporting and updates.
• City & Guilds certification in Carpentry and Joinery is a plus.
