Role Overview

The Academic Manager position is a diverse role combining academic leadership with hands-on teaching responsibilities. This role requires managing academic operations and delivering classes for both General English and PTE Academic preparation. The ideal candidate will have proven success in boosting student PTE scores and enjoys mentoring an instructional team to achieve measurable improvements.

Core Responsibilities

• Deliver impactful PTE Academic classes covering all four language skills with emphasis on exam strategy, grading criteria, and tangible score advancement.
• Conduct engaging General English lessons following a structured timetable.
• Monitor individual student progress in PTE scores and tailor teaching approaches to address specific skill deficiencies.
• Create and continually improve PTE practice tests, mock exams, and predictive scoring tools.
• Lead and mentor the teaching staff through classroom observations, constructive feedback, and bespoke professional development, particularly in PTE methodologies.
• Manage curriculum development and assessments for both General English and PTE streams to ensure consistent student achievement.
• Maintain a repository of PTE score benchmarks and analytical tools for faculty use.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards including CRICOS and ELICOS.
• Coordinate class schedules, teacher allocations, and daily academic activities.
• Oversee student academic progress tracking, attendance monitoring, and handle academic concerns empathetically.
• Lead preparations for academic audits and participate in quality enhancement programs with compliance and operations teams.
• Support student retention by addressing academic and PTE-related issues promptly.
• Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to produce digital content promoting PTE results, student achievements, and video testimonials.

Qualifications and Experience

• Possession of a recognized teaching certificate such as CELTA, DELTA, or equivalent.
• Higher education degree in TESOL, Education, or a closely related field; postgraduate qualifications are highly esteemed.
• Certification as a PTE Academic trainer or substantial practical experience teaching PTE exam formats preferred.
• Proven background in academic leadership roles like Academic Manager, Senior Teacher, or Director of Studies within the ELICOS or international education sector in Australia.
• Documented success improving student PTE Academic scores consistently.
• Ongoing active classroom teaching experience balancing instructional duties with management responsibilities.
• Comprehensive understanding of CRICOS and ELICOS compliance requirements.
• Experience working effectively with students from diverse cultural backgrounds.
