Job description
Position Overview
Corlann is seeking Support Workers to join their team providing critical assistance to individuals receiving services within various community settings. These roles involve working as casual relief with hours of up to 78 per fortnight, supporting both children and adults with intellectual disabilities across locations including Ballinhassig, Bandon, Upton, Innishannon, and West Cork areas.
Key Responsibilities
The Support Worker’s role encompasses two primary components: delivering comprehensive personal care such as assistance with meals, hygiene, and physical well-being as needed by individuals, and actively supporting service users to implement their Individual Plans. This involves fostering participation in everyday community life through inclusive and innovative approaches. Some successful candidates may also take on the role of key worker responsible for developing and reviewing individual care plans.
Candidate Requirements
- Possession of a relevant Level 5 QQI qualification (8 modules), preferably in Healthcare Support, Health Service Skills, Intellectual Disability module, Childcare, or SNA qualification; alternatively, candidates undertaking Level 7 or 8 qualifications in Social Care, Nursing, or Allied Health are eligible.
- Ideally, at least six months’ experience working in the intellectual disability sector with adults or children.
- Experience supporting individuals exhibiting challenging behaviors.
- Completion of modules related to Special Needs and/or Intellectual Disability is desirable.
- A full clean driver’s license valid for manual transmission vehicles on Irish roads is highly preferred.
- Mandatory compliance with Immunisation Guidelines for Ireland 2008, specifically adequate immunity against Hepatitis B.
Additional Information
- Reporting lines include the Social Care Leader and Area Manager or designated authority.
- Salary range is €34,536 to €47,954 per annum including 1 long service increment, pro-rated for part-time roles.
- Submission of documentation evidencing relevant experience is required within three months of start; failure to do so will delay payment of incremental credits.
- Corlann South is an equal opportunities employer.
- Application deadline is Sunday, 30 August 2026.
