Role Overview

This position, based in Darwin, entails overseeing the structural construction components of a significant high-rise student accommodation project. It requires comprehensive planning, coordination, supervision, and execution of all structural works.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the planning and management of structural construction tasks, covering concrete, formwork, reinforcement, post-tensioning, and structural steel.
• Ensure timely progress by managing floor cycles and critical milestones key to the structural schedule.
• Collaborate with the Site Manager and Project Engineers to prepare and implement both short-term and forward-looking construction programmes.
• Track construction progress and proactively mitigate delays, risks, and efficiency challenges.
• Schedule structural works to facilitate smooth transitions to subsequent trades and project phases.
• Manage subcontractors to align work scope with schedule, quality standards, and safety protocols.
• Coordinate resources including labor, machinery, material deliveries, crane use, and logistical aspects to maximize site productivity.
• Conduct essential inspections prior to concrete pours, maintain quality checkpoints, and manage Quality and Inspection Test Plan documents.
• Perform quality compliance inspections ensuring conformity with design documents, engineering standards, and construction tolerances.
• Identify and resolve defects or non-conformities swiftly to ensure quality assurance.
• Uphold and promote rigorous safety standards across all structural activities in line with company and regulatory health and safety policies.
• Oversee site safety inspections, document observations, and lead safety briefings or toolbox talks.
• Build strong working relationships with all project stakeholders including subcontractors, consultants, suppliers, and internal teams.
• Provide mentorship to Leading Hands and site team members, encouraging responsibility, team spirit, and continuous process improvement.

Qualifications and Experience

• Trade qualification in relevant fields such as Carpentry, Concreting, Civil Construction, or Construction.
• At least five years’ experience in roles like Foreman, Structural Foreman, or Site Supervisor within commercial construction projects.
• Proven track record managing structural packages on multi-storey or high-rise commercial developments.
• In-depth knowledge of structural building techniques involving formwork, reinforcement, concrete, post-tensioning, and steel structures.
• Experience overseeing subcontractors and labor to sustain efficient site productivity.
• Capable of interpreting structural drawings, engineering details, technical specifications, and programme schedules.
• Strong familiarity with construction safety laws, quality assurance systems, and HSEQ regulations.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving capabilities with a proactive approach to construction challenges.
• Competence with Microsoft Office and construction management software is advantageous.
