Team and Responsibilities

The Pricing team is integral to Lyft’s Marketplace organization, managing prices across rideshare products and backing new initiatives. The Rider Engagement segment creates engagement strategies for riders and optimizes pricing experiences to fulfill immediate and long-term business goals. Collaborating closely with Product and Science teams, this role addresses complex pricing challenges by balancing rider, driver, and business objectives. The role entails tackling latency-sensitive concurrency issues, large-scale distributed systems, and experimentation to enhance demand and supply management, ultimately improving the Lyft customer experience.

Primary Duties

• Lead impactful projects introducing innovative solutions for excellent user experience.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to devise technology-driven business solutions aligned with team priorities.
• Independently manage features from inception through successful launch.
• Provide support, remove obstacles, and maintain communication with internal collaborators to ensure results.
• Produce high-quality, well-tested, clear, and maintainable code.
• Apply expertise in Python, Golang, and AWS to create robust and scalable systems.
• Engage in code reviews to uphold code quality, share knowledge, and participate in on-call duties.
• Contribute knowledge through presentations, tech talks, and advocating engineering best practices.

Required Qualification and Experience

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• Over three years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in object-oriented programming, preferably in GoLang or Python.
• Background in backend development involving distributed systems and concurrency.
• Excellent communication skills for collaboration and influencing cross-functional teams.

Work Schedule and Location

This role operates onsite in Toronto, Ontario, requiring team members to work in the office at least three days weekly (currently Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays). Lyft emphasizes in-person collaboration and company culture. Hybrid flexibility includes up to four weeks per year working remotely from any location.

Salary Information

The anticipated base salary range for this position in Toronto is CA$108,000 to CA$135,000 annually, excluding potential equity, bonuses, or benefits. Salary varies depending on qualifications, experience, and location.
