Location and Team

Positions are offered in Ottawa and Toronto with a hybrid work model, and remote options for other Canadian locations. The Operations Research development team creates innovative algorithms to optimize supply chain processes, enabling customers to make quick and confident planning decisions that minimize environmental impact and support the delivery of essential products worldwide.

Role Responsibilities

  • Explore innovative methods blending top heuristics with optimization techniques.
  • Translate complex real-world supply chain scenarios into precise mathematical models.
  • Lead the development and implementation of these mathematical models.
  • Establish testing strategies and comprehensive test plans to ensure quality.
  • Develop and execute unit, integration, and debugging tests for robust software performance.
  • Create and maintain automated test scripts for functional, regression, and performance evaluations using specialized frameworks.
  • Collaborate closely with agile cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the strategic growth of Kinaxis as the company expands into new markets.

  • Core development in C++
  • Utilization of commercial mathematical solvers such as Gurobi, Xpress, CPLEX
  • Maestro’s advanced in-memory data server technology
  • Development tools including Visual Studio, JIRA, Confluence, and Git
  • Internal tools for software correctness and performance validation
  • Virtual and cloud-based infrastructure for development and testing

Candidate Requirements

  • A Master’s or PhD in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, or related disciplines
  • Minimum 3 years of proven software development experience with delivery of commercial software products
  • Proficiency in C++ covering object-oriented principles, design patterns, and unit testing
  • Strong passion for data structures, algorithms, and their practical applications
  • Experience developing mathematical models for optimization challenges
  • Familiarity with commercial solvers like Gurobi, Xpress, or CPLEX
  • Capability to design and maintain automated testing scripts for multiple testing types using relevant tools
  • Innovative mindset to enhance software development lifecycle (SDLC) via AI or tooling, while maintaining architectural integrity and code quality standards
  • Ability to critically evaluate AI-generated code focusing on correctness, architecture, integration, and edge case considerations
  • Desirable knowledge in machine learning algorithms and models
  • Beneficial understanding of supply chain management concepts such as Demand Planning, MRP, S&OP, and Capacity Planning
