Position Overview
Team Horizon is recruiting a Site Automation Manager for a client based in Cork, Ireland. This leadership role directs the Automation and MES team within the Engineering department, reporting to the Site Engineering Manager. The core objective is to optimize manufacturing systems through advanced automation technologies while cultivating operational excellence and talent development.

Key Responsibilities
- Maximize automation and MES system uptime and performance by employing proactive and predictive maintenance approaches to reduce downtime.
- Manage the entire lifecycle of automation and MES projects from design to implementation, ensuring alignment with business priorities and cost efficiency.
- Lead digital transformation efforts including paperless manufacturing initiatives utilizing expert technical knowledge.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and development to a high-performing team, including mentoring, feedback, performance appraisals, and setting clear goals.
- Create and nurture a collaborative, inclusive team environment focused on learning, accountability, and knowledge sharing.
- Drive continual process improvements by embedding best automation practices and championing innovation within the team.
- Lead and support change management as automation technologies and business needs evolve.
- Develop strong, trust-based relationships with cross-functional stakeholders to align automation strategies with organizational objectives.
- Uphold exemplary communication standards, customer service focus, and stakeholder engagement internally and externally.
- Ensure compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), data integrity, security protocols, and Health, Safety & Environmental regulations.
- Promote a proactive safety culture, implement ISO and company standards, and maintain a ‘Right First Time’ quality mindset.
Candidate Requirements
- Level 8 degree in Automation, Electronic Engineering, or a closely related field.
- At least 10 years of technical experience within the pharmaceutical sector focusing on automation and MES systems.
- In-depth knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing equipment; experience in solid dosage or sterile production environments is preferred.
- Minimum 5 years managing projects and teams with proven success in talent development and delivering results.
- An inspirational leadership approach with strong change management capabilities and dedication to continuous improvement.
- Demonstrated strong leadership, decision-making, and communication skills.
- Customer-focused mindset and excellent collaboration skills within teams.
- Fluency in English, both spoken and written.
