SHE Engineer

Job Overview

This position supports the achievement of Unilever's Zero Harm goal at the Jeddah Factory by applying Unilever's Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) Standards, assuring compliance with Saudi Arabian regulations, and fostering a robust safety culture throughout all shifts and production lines. Key Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain Unilever’s SHE Standards along with local legal safety requirements, including managing risk assessments, permits-to-work, lockout-tagout (LOTO), machine safety, and contractor oversight within the factory.
• Lead or assist in conducting SHE risk assessments, including Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs), Hazard and Operability studies (HAZOPs), and ergonomic evaluations, ensuring prompt resolution of identified issues.
• Manage the reporting, investigation, and learning process for incidents and near misses, while tracking corrective and preventive measures.
• Monitor safety performance indicators such as injury rates, near misses, audits, and inspections, and drive initiatives for continuous improvement.
• Conduct SHE inductions, provide training, coaching, and lead toolbox talks for both employees and contractors.
• Support new projects and capital expenditure initiatives, ensuring safety principles are integrated in design (“SHE by design”).
• Engage in internal and external audits to ensure strict adherence to Unilever and regulatory safety standards.
• Collaborate closely with Production, Engineering, Maintenance, and HR teams to embed SHE principles into daily factory operations.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Safety, Health and Environment, or a related field; equivalent experience also considered.
• Prior experience in SHE or HSE functions within a manufacturing or factory setting is preferred.
• Familiarity with occupational safety, health, and environmental regulations applicable in Saudi Arabia.
• Strong analytical abilities, adept at problem-solving and making data-informed decisions.
• Excellent communication, coaching, and influencing skills across various organizational levels and shifts.
• Proficiency in both English and Arabic languages.

Preferred Qualifications

• NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC).
• Occupational Safety and Health certification.
