About the Role
Torus Talent is seeking a Senior System Administrator to support a fast-growing client specializing in cybersecurity, system architecture, and managed IT services. This full-time role is based in Vancouver and requires working onsite at least three days a week. Candidates residing outside the Greater Vancouver area will not be considered.
Primary Responsibilities
- Plan, test, and implement system upgrades to maintain peak system performance.
- Manage and optimize enterprise-level IT systems and networks to ensure high availability and security.
- Leverage Azure cloud services and Hybrid Azure AD for integration between on-premises and cloud environments.
- Administer Group Policy Objects (GPO) and Intune policies for efficient configuration management.
- Troubleshoot and resolve advanced technical issues, including those involving Microsoft core business applications and operating systems.
- Supervise backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity strategies to protect critical data assets.
- Lead and contribute to IT projects, delivering results aligned with best industry practices.
- Collaborate with teams and communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.
- Stay abreast of current technology trends and industry standards.
- Participate in team and client meetings to promote a cooperative work environment.
- Be available to address emergency situations outside standard hours to maintain business continuity, although regular on-call duties are not required.
Qualifications & Skills
- A minimum of 5 to 7 years' experience in system administration managing enterprise IT environments.
- Proficient in Windows Server, Linux, and UNIX operating systems.
- Expertise with Microsoft Azure cloud services and security protocols.
- Strong networking understanding, including firewall configuration and network protocols.
- Experience with automation scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
- Capability to implement and manage backup and disaster recovery plans.
- Exceptional troubleshooting abilities to diagnose and fix complex issues.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Industry certifications like Microsoft 365/Azure Role-Based Certifications, VMware Certified Professional (VCP), and Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) are considered advantageous.
