Senior R&D Project and Commercialization Manager

About the Role

A leading company specializing in medical device consumables seeks a Senior R&D Project and Commercialization Manager to join their Product Development and Commercialization Team located in County Mayo, Ireland. The role requires a seasoned R&D professional with 8 to 12 years of commercial experience in new product development, project management, and product launch within regulated industries, preferably medical devices. This position involves approximately 10% global travel and requires presence on-site at least four days per week.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct cross-functional core teams to complete product development plans aligned with commercialization schedules.
• Formulate integrated business and detailed commercialization plans, targeting identified markets and facilitating a global product rollout.
• Plan, coordinate, and monitor project activities to achieve objectives and comply with product requirements and quality standards.
• Manage project budgets, costs, and profit margins to meet ROI targets.
• Foster strong collaborative relationships with senior leaders across functions to ensure support for successful commercialization.
• Promote a high-performance work culture emphasizing innovation, accountability, and results.
• Guide and mentor project team members, including those outside the core new product development team, ensuring adherence to project management best practices and process compliance.
• Deliver impactful high-quality product development outputs that satisfy market demands.
• Provide annual product development feedback to functional departments regarding financial and human resource needs.

Qualifications and Experience

• Degree-level qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering, Science, or a related discipline.
• Additional qualifications such as an MBA, business degree, or project management certification are advantageous.
• At least 8-12 years of commercial R&D experience, preferably in the medical device industry or similar regulated sectors.
• Proven expertise in product development, commercialization strategies, and enterprise process initiatives.
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements including 21 CFR, QSR 830, ISO 13485, and ISO 14971.
• Strong project management competencies, especially in regulated environments.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate multifunctional teams effectively.
