Senior Integration Specialist

About the Role

We invite applications for a Senior Integration Specialist to join our Data, Digital and Technology team at Powerco, located in New Plymouth, with options for Wellington or Palmerston North. This full-time permanent position involves spearheading the design and execution of integration solutions that enhance business efficiency by connecting systems, data, and personnel. You will collaborate closely with technical experts and business stakeholders to understand requirements and drive seamless integration solutions.

This role demands both hands-on implementation of integrations and oversight of vendor-delivered projects. You'll also have opportunities to mentor colleagues and influence the ongoing development of Powerco's integration capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the entire integration delivery lifecycle: from initial discovery, solution design, and hands-on construction to testing, deployment, and operational handover.
• Develop integration interfaces spanning enterprise applications, cloud platforms, and data services utilizing various paradigms including API, event-driven, batch, and file-based methods.
• Collaborate with Solution Architects, Business Analysts, and stakeholders to refine solution options and integration architectures.
• Serve as the organization's expert on integration platforms, API usage, authentication, and system connectivity, advising delivery teams and stakeholders accordingly.
• Participate in technology evaluations, architectural decisions, and establish integration platform strategies.
• Design robust solutions incorporating monitoring, alerting, logging, and recovery mechanisms ensuring operational excellence.
• Maintain comprehensive and clear documentation and handover materials for ease of future maintenance and enhancement.
• Deliver Level 3 support and perform root cause analyses for production integration issues.
• Establish and uphold integration standards, naming conventions, and documentation protocols to improve consistency and quality.
• Create reusable integration patterns and components to expedite project delivery efforts.
• Contribute to governance processes, raising the quality and sophistication of integration practices across the company.
• Provide leadership and design oversight for vendor-implemented integration initiatives, ensuring adherence to Powerco’s security, maintainability, and support requirements.
• Support project teams through design reviews, testing phases, and deployment activities to ensure successful execution.

Required Experience and Skills

• Minimum of 7 years’ experience in integration, software engineering, or enterprise application delivery within complex environments.
• Proven track record working with agile delivery teams and engaging with business stakeholders, architects, and external vendors.
• Experience leading technical teams and mentoring junior engineers.
• Familiarity with integration platforms such as Boomi, SAP BTP Integration Suite, FME, or equivalents.
• Strong command of API design and management, event-driven architectures, and Azure integration services.
• Knowledge of data integration tools including FME, REST and SOAP web services, and asynchronous messaging patterns.
• Hands-on experience with continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) and DevOps methodologies.
• Proficiency in security protocols, authentication mechanisms, and identity integration.
• Capability in monitoring, logging, and operational support best practices for integrations.
