Job description
Role Overview
This position involves operating company vehicles and performing efficient package delivery and pickup duties, covering at least 15 different routes in a flexible, floating capacity rather than a fixed assigned route.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate company vehicles to deliver and collect packages across multiple routes as needed.
- Provide backup coverage for open routes when regular couriers are unavailable.
- Serve as a mentor and role model for hourly employees by demonstrating exemplary communication, conflict resolution, and leadership skills following Best Practices methods.
- Drive sales growth by identifying opportunities for additional revenue during deliveries.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
- Minimum of six months experience as a courier is required to adjust to job responsibilities.
- Must hold a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (no more than two violations or accidents in the last 24 months).
- Capability to complete and maintain Dangerous Goods (DG) certification, including annual recertification as required.
- Proven ability to lift 70 lbs and handle packages up to 150 lbs using proper equipment.
- Good understanding of company products, service features, and general operations.
- Some familiarity with Federal Express operations and Canadian Customs regulations is advantageous.
- Strong interpersonal skills with excellent customer interaction, communication, analytical, problem solving, prioritization, and organizational abilities.
- Proficiency in English is required; bilingual (English and French) proficiency is necessary for Quebec-based incumbents.
Additional Details and Requirements
- Incumbents do not have regularly assigned routes but provide coverage for multiple open routes.
- Requirement for DG specialist status varies depending on station size and geography; final authority lies with Senior Management.
- Employees must be capable of working varied shifts in a PC Windows environment.
