Job description
Position Overview
This role entails operating company vehicles to efficiently deliver and collect packages, providing coverage across a minimum of 15 routes in a flexible floating capacity rather than a fixed route assignment.
The incumbent will act as a mentor to hourly employees by exemplifying exemplary communication, conflict resolution, and leadership qualities, using proven best practices. Further, the role involves promoting sales efforts to generate additional revenue opportunities whenever possible.
Educational and Experience Requirements
- High school diploma or an equivalent qualification is mandatory.
- A minimum of six months prior experience as a courier is required.
Technical Expertise
- Possession of a valid driver's license with a clean driving record is essential.
- Completion and maintenance of all foundational and refresher DG (Dangerous Goods) certification trainings are required, including yearly renewal to sustain accreditation.
- Ability to obtain and maintain FedEx DG Specialist certification.
- Strong knowledge of company products, service features, and standard operations.
- Capability to lift 70 pounds and maneuver packages up to 150 pounds using appropriate equipment.
- Familiarity with Federal Express operational procedures and Canadian Customs regulations is advantageous.
- In Quebec, bilingualism in both French and English is compulsory.
Interpersonal and Analytical Skills
- Excellent skills in human relations, customer communication, and interpersonal interactions.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving aptitude, prioritization, and organizational capabilities.
Additional Notes
- The position does not include designated regular routes; incumbents cover vacant routes due to absence of regular couriers.
- Senior management holds discretion over DG specialist requirements depending on station specifics.
- Applicants must meet strict driver standards: valid license, limited violations (maximum two in the last 24 months), and satisfactory performance in evaluations and interview stages.
