Role overview

Air Liquide Singapore Private Limited is a major industrial gas business in Southeast Asia, with a team of about 800 people supporting manufacturing customers in Singapore. Within the Engineering Project and Solutions Division, the focus is on designing, installing, and managing gas supply systems, storage infrastructure, and gas handling equipment to improve productivity, product quality, and safety for clients.

As a Senior Business Developer in the EPSD team, you will focus on business growth by uncovering new opportunities, strengthening key accounts, and shaping technical solutions. The position is based in Woodlands and involves managing customer relationships, giving technical guidance, and working with internal teams to control budgets and deliver profitable projects.

Growth and business development

You will be expected to lead prospecting efforts for new business while also expanding relationships with existing customers across Singapore. The role splits its focus roughly 30% on new opportunities and 70% on growing current accounts.

You will create account-level strategies and market approaches to promote selected Air Liquide solutions and support long-term growth.

Technical and commercial responsibilities

The role requires acting as the main technical and professional contact for complex customer questions, including providing practical technical advice.

You will coordinate with internal teams to prepare strong technical and commercial proposals that meet company and industry requirements.

Working with cross-functional stakeholders, you will help shape offers that are technically sound, commercially viable, and aligned to customer needs.

You will also support risk reviews, define project scopes, and contribute technical input to ensure solutions are safe and dependable.

Negotiation, budgeting, and execution

You will lead commercial discussions with customers to reach profitable agreements and protect the company’s market position.

The role includes working with the Business Development Head on strategic issues, resource planning, and tender budget activities.

You will monitor project budgets and help maintain profitability on secured work by coordinating closely with execution teams.

Close collaboration with onsite operations and project staff is needed to stay ahead of customer expectations and understand competitor activity.

Experience and qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering is required, with Process, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or Chemistry preferred.

You should have at least 5 years of experience in industrial operations or maintenance, project management, procurement, or construction management.

Prior exposure to proposal engineering or technical project management is important for success in this role.

Strong financial understanding is needed to produce detailed cost estimates, manage tender budgets, and interpret complex contract terms.

Excellent negotiation and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to connect customers and engineering teams effectively.

The environment is fast-moving and demanding, so you should be comfortable working under pressure, building trust with decision-makers, and travelling across Singapore when needed.
