Overview
Our client, a prominent clinical and commercial biologics Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO) located in Tustin, CA, is seeking a Research Associate for upstream process development. This pivotal role involves supporting the development, enhancement, and scale-up of mammalian cell culture processes critical to biologics manufacturing. The successful candidate will contribute to translating innovative therapies from early-stage development to commercial manufacturing.
Key Duties
- Design, develop, and refine mammalian cell culture processes targeting recombinant protein production optimization.
- Maintain and propagate mammalian cell lines including CHO, HEK, NSO, and associated expression platforms.
- Conduct studies focusing on media formulation, feed screening, and overall process improvements to boost cell growth and yield.
- Operate and troubleshoot various bioreactor systems such as shake flasks, wave bioreactors, and stirred-tank bioreactors.
- Aseptically prepare cell culture media and feed solutions from foundational components.
- Analyze cell growth metrics, productivity parameters, and nutrient uptake using Excel and supplementary analytical tools.
- Compile technical reports, summarize data, prepare presentations, and document processes to fulfill project and regulatory obligations.
- Collaborate with diverse teams to facilitate process scale-up and transfer into manufacturing environments.
- Investigate and incorporate emerging technologies and methodologies to elevate upstream development efficiency.
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a similar scientific field.
- Minimum 2 years' professional experience in mammalian cell culture, upstream process development, or related bioprocess fields.
- Proven hands-on expertise with mammalian cell lines and aseptic culturing protocols.
