Technical Operations Group

The Technical Operations division is responsible for drug manufacturing for clinical trials and commercial distribution, involving a multidisciplinary team that ensures quality, regulatory compliance, and effective global drug supply.

Role Overview

The Analytical Sciences department seeks a Research Associate with expertise in biochemistry or biology to conduct analytical testing supporting gene therapy and enzyme replacement therapy projects. The position is based onsite in Shanbally, Ringaskiddy, Cork.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform product testing to assist Drug Substance and Drug Product process development teams.
  • Carry out non-routine analysis on in-process and final product samples.
  • Utilize analytical techniques such as HPLC, UPLC, CE, FTIR, and plate-based assays.
  • Accurately document test results adhering to GLP and company SOPs.
  • Collaborate with teams from Drug Substance Technologies, Drug Product Device Technologies, Manufacturing, and Quality departments.
  • Analyze and interpret experimental data to provide clear quantitative insights.
  • Deliver oral presentations during departmental meetings and report progress weekly to management.
  • Draft detailed experimental plans and share findings proactively with collaborators and supervisors.
  • Maintain electronic records of data and reports for audit readiness.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

  • Solid understanding of GMP, GLP, and regulatory compliance.
  • Proficiency in protein chemistry, function, and bioassays.
  • Experience with cell culture and protein expression/activity assessment.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and scientific writing capabilities.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and communicate scientific data effectively.
  • Adaptability and work execution skills in a dynamic, multitasking environment.

Preferred Experience

  • Background in troubleshooting, qualifying, and transferring analytical methods.
  • Familiarity with biopharmaceutical development processes.

Education Requirements

Minimum a Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences plus at least 2 years relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with 1 year relevant experience.
