Research Assistant in Bioinformatics (Fixed Term)

Role Overview

The University of Cambridge's Genomics and Bioinformatics Core (GBC) within the Institute of Metabolic Science - Metabolic Research Laboratories is seeking a Research Assistant specializing in bioinformatics. This role supports research projects via analytical and data management expertise, focusing on genome sequencing, single-cell analyses, and integrative multi-omics approaches.

Key Duties

The successful candidate will develop reproducible computational workflows, analyze and interpret functional genomics datasets, and maintain data management in compliance with FAIR data principles. Essential tools include Git and software containers to facilitate robust and reproducible data analysis.

Candidate Profile

Applicants should possess a BSc, MSc, or equivalent academic background in bioinformatics, computational biology, genetics, biochemistry, biology, or a related discipline, paired with strong computational abilities.

Additional Information

This is a fixed-term position funded until 31 March 2030 and is available immediately. There is potential for the appointee to concurrently pursue a PhD subject to university policy. Post-offer requirements include satisfactory basic disclosure checks, health assessments, and security clearance.
