Role Overview

Our Waste Services Team provides vital support to over 126,000 households by managing domestic, recycling, and garden waste collections, completing more than 9 million collections annually and handling upwards of 100,000 tonnes of waste. The team also promotes environmental awareness through campaigns and education to enhance sustainable and efficient services. We have multiple openings for Waste Refuse Collectors to serve residents in Coventry, Nuneaton & Bedworth, and support Commercial Services. We encourage applications from women and minority ethnic groups to diversify our workforce, though all applicants are considered on merit. Candidates must have the right to work in the UK, as sponsorship is not available.

Responsibilities

  • Collect residential and commercial waste safely and efficiently.
  • Contribute to promoting recycling and waste reduction initiatives.
  • Follow health and safety guidelines rigorously in all working conditions.
  • Participate in occasional weekend and bank holiday shifts as required.

Candidate Requirements

  • Physical fitness capable of walking 12 miles or more per day in varying weather conditions.
  • A strong work ethic and reliability.
  • Ability to comprehend health and safety instructions in English (English need not be first language).

Work Hours and Shifts

  • Domestic collections: shifts start at 7:00 AM, Tuesday to Friday, 37 hours per week.
  • Nuneaton & Bedworth Borough Council (NBBC): shifts start at 6:30 AM, Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week.

Additional Information

  • Assessment dates are scheduled for 18th and 19th August 2027.
  • Interviews will take place the week commencing 24th August 2026.
