Real Time Data Administrator

Job Overview

The Real Time Data Administrator (RTDA) is tasked with overseeing, verifying, managing, and supporting real-time drilling and operational data transmitted from both offshore and onshore drilling rigs. The position ensures the continuous delivery and high quality of data, promptly resolving issues in data transmission and supporting round-the-clock real-time operational environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor live drilling and operational data streams from designated rigs.
• Guarantee ongoing availability and integrity of rig data feeds.
• Detect and escalate any data disruptions, anomalies, or communication breakdowns.
• Conduct initial troubleshooting for issues related to data transmission and visualization.
• Validate all incoming drilling data for completeness, correctness, and consistency.
• Track sensor and channel performance, reporting irregular findings.
• Ensure correct mapping and configuration of real-time data channels.
• Assist with data cleansing and correction when necessary.
• Support aggregation and visualization platforms for real-time data.
• Help maintain rig connectivity and communication systems.
• Collaborate with IT/network teams and external vendors to resolve technical issues.
• Maintain comprehensive system logs, incident records, and operational documentation.
• Communicate with rig staff and client representatives during operational incidents.
• Provide timely updates during data outages or system faults.
• Engage in shift handovers and report operational statuses.
• Adhere to company health, safety, environment (HSE), cybersecurity, and operational policies.
• Ensure conformance to customer service standards and service level agreements (SLA).
• Contribute ideas to enhance processes and operational effectiveness.

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics & Instrumentation, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
• Between 3 to 5 years of experience with a solid understanding of real-time drilling data systems and their workflows.
• Knowledge of WITS and WITSML protocols.
• Familiarity with communication protocols such as OPC UA and Modbus.
• Experience with systems for real-time data aggregation and data visualization platforms.
• Understanding of rig instrumentation, sensors, industrial automation, and data integration setups.
• Basic networking and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with ticketing systems and incident management.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Able to function effectively in a 24/7 rotational shift schedule.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills.
• Capability to operate under pressure during operational events.
• Strong attention to detail ensuring data accuracy.
• Experience supporting major upstream oil and gas drilling projects.
• Familiarity with cybersecurity practices in operational technologies.
• Awareness of cloud-based data platforms and analytics tools.
• Knowledge of real-time drilling applications and reporting systems.
